She wrote for various newspapers and magazines while she was still at school and went to Columbia University in New York for a year after graduating from high school. Immediately after completing her M.A. in Politics, Economics and German Studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, she completed a radio and television traineeship at Bayerischer Rundfunk. Andrea Giese then worked for ARD, BR, MDR, the wholly-owned MDR subsidiary Drefa and the Holtzbrinck media group in management positions, as well as working for many years as a presenter.
She has been honoured with the television awards “Silberner Lorbeer” and “Raab der Woche”. Andrea-Marion Giese has published numerous books and taught for almost a decade as a lecturer at the Institute for Communication Science at the TU Dresden.
