Ulf
Mehner
Ulf Mehner supports companies, institutions and project managers when public acceptance, political support and reputation need to be secured at the same time. As founder and managing partner of WeichertMehner, he develops strategic communication solutions for particularly challenging projects in business, government and society.
A particular focus of his work is acceptance communication for complex infrastructure, energy and construction projects as well as for security-relevant projects in the areas of defense, armaments and critical technologies. He supports mandates where communication is subject to high regulatory and public scrutiny and where political and social reactions must be taken into account.
Ulf Mehner has many years of experience in the political arena. During his studies, he already worked in various functions in the Saxon state parliament. He was a personal assistant to a state minister, part of several election campaign teams at state level and took on responsibility in the press office of the CDU parliamentary group. As a result, he is familiar with the thinking and decision-making logic of ministries, authorities and parliaments as well as the expectations of the media and opinion leaders. During a professional stay in the USA, he built up additional expertise in relocation and technology location communication.
His studies in communication science, political science and sociology at the TU Dresden form the academic foundation of his work. As a member of the Federal Board of the German Public Relations Association, he contributes his experience to the further development of professional communication standards.
Today, his focus is on data-supported, context-sensitive communication for projects with increased reputational risk. In particular, this includes investment projects with security policy relevance, projects with approval risks as well as strategies for social and political flanking of defense initiatives, public-private partnerships and critical infrastructure.
At WeichertMehner, he is responsible for mandates in the areas of energy, industry, defense, security technologies, funding policy and the construction industry. Its strength lies in formulating positions in a coherent manner, defusing critical narratives and enabling strategic control under uncertainty.
