We bid farewell to our Senior Consulting Partner, companion and friend Michael Sagurna. In him, Saxony has lost one of the most influential strategists and communicators of the post-reunification era in Saxony. A man who never stood in the foreground and yet made a decisive contribution to how political leadership was perceived and understood in the 1990s.

As government spokesman and later head of the Saxon State Chancellery, he helped shape the narrative of a self-confident Free State of Saxony. Not loud, not vain, but with historical awareness, intellectual acuity and a keen sense of identity, language and timing.

For us at WeichertMehner, he was much more than that. He was a senior consulting partner, companion and friend for many years. We argued, argued, developed strategies and overcame difficult situations together – and celebrated life. Many of his thoughts, pointed remarks and attitudes still shape our thinking today. We will miss him. And we miss his whistling.
